Bigfoot?

I’m at Michelle’s right now letting my food settle after a very tasty meal. She made Spicy Lime Shrimp Tacos with vegetables (zucchini, squash, onion, green pepper, corn — yum!). She made me a special little portion of just veggies because she’s the nicest :)

Action shot!

Think this meal sounds intriguing??? You can read more about it HERE. But more importantly, Michelle is submitting it to Jen’s PriorFatGirl E-Cookbook! Have a favorite recipe of your own? Send it to Jen!!! The deadline is October 10 … but I have a feeling she’ll extend it. (I haven’t sent her mine yet either, so let’s all get on this!)

I’ve worn size-10 shoes since forever. When I was thin, when I was fat, always. However, I’ve noticed a change in my foot size in the last couple of months. In one of my meetings a few weeks ago, the leader asked if I’d noticed my feet getting smaller since I’ve lost weight. I’m so glad she asked! I thought I was going crazy! Or maybe that shoe companies were going the way of clothing companies and their vanity sizing.

I ordered a pair of TOMS in April. I was sooo excited to get my tie-dyed TOMS! Sadly, when I opened the box and tried on my new kicks, I found that they were very narrow. My toes also went all the way to the end. I knew I wasn’t going to love wearing them as much as I love looking at them. (Have I mentioned I LOVE tie dye?!) But that was six months and 15 pounds ago.

We've been reunited!

I slipped them on a couple of days ago, and they fit like a dream!!! I’m not going crazy! My feet really are shrinking!

Another example of my feetshrinkingness happened a few weeks ago at DSW. I tried on a pair of my favorite brand of pumps in the size I always wear. I’ve purchased more than eight pairs of size-10 Bandolino’s, but when I went to try on my next potential purchase, they were too big! I know that my shoes at home don’t fit as snug as before, but I chalked that up to just everyday stretching out. They didn’t have a 9.5 in stock, so no new shoes for me :(

I've heard that your feet will shrink as you lose weight because gravity isn't pushing as much heaviness down on your tootsies. Apparently it's true! Anyone else ever experience this phenomenon?

Don’t get me wrong. I still have large feet for my 5’5 ½” bod. My running shoes are 11’s. 11’s! Running shoes should be bigger than your normal size because of your feet swelling and toes jamming toward the end. I would have been fine with size 10.5, but they don’t keep them in the store. I would have needed to order them, and I just wasn’t in the mood for that at the time. My size 11’s (with insoles for extra comfort, of course) rock. I do feel like a giant when I actually think about wearing a size 11, but that’s cool. Kate Winslet wears size 11, and I think she’s pretty neat. I’m in the bigfoot club!

Additionally, I’m in the Size-8 Pants Club! I had been between a size 8 and 10 for a while, but when I went shopping the other day, all the size 8’s I tried on fit! That wasn’t too surprising at Gap, but I was very pleased when all the size 8’s at American Eagle fit, too. (I owned a pair of size-8 AE jeans in high school and I could only kinda breathe in them.) I wound up buying a pair of Real Straight jeans at Gap and the size M shirt I’m wearing in this pic.

Oooolala, lookin' good

Alrighty, folks. That’s about it for today. Don’t forget to submit your recipe for Jen’s PriorFatGirl E-Cookbook! Not kidding. Do it. Do it.

  3. Oh my god - my feet are smaller and it's so upsetting, as my extensive shoe collection doesn't fit half as well as it used to *sob*!!! I'm a UK 8, which I think is a US 10 - or at least I used to be ... nowadays more and more 7's seem to be fitting. Damn my expensive collection of stilettos going to waste!!

  5. I love the shoes! I'm a big fan of tie-dye too.

I have shoes in almost as many sizes as I have clothes. When I'm thin(er) I can wear 7 1/2-8 and these days I fit into 8-9 1/2 and can barely get the 7 1/2's on.

  6. My feet has shrunk as well. Half of the shoes in my closet don't fit anymore. I guess thats a good excuse to buy new ones :)

  7. I'm a big foot too! I wear a 10 in most things and an 11 in running shoes and pointy toe dress shoes! Of course, I'm 5'8" so, but I have worn this size since I was in 6th grade (I was only 5 feet tall until I was a sophomore in high school!)

Congrats on all the changes that you are experiencing!

  8. I'm so jealous that your feet shrunk and mine didn't! Mine have stayed the same size since losing almost 90 lbs!

    I'm 5'11" and I wear a size 12, YES, 12 in women's. It's so hard to find cute shoes..But I digress, nothing I can do about. I'm just jealous!

  9. hmmm this gives me food for thought. I also wear a 10 and the running shoes I bought the other day were a 10.5 (which they luckily had in stock). But that same day I bought a size 9.5 flat and a size 9 boot (yes, three pairs of shoes in one day). And I haven't worn a 9 in...forever? Wonder if it's due to the weight loss?

And congrats on the size 8! That's HUGE! Well, not huge...you know what I mean :-)

  11. I totally lost spaceage in my shoage. er, does that even make sense? Lemme try again - yes, I too went down a 1/2 size in my shoe! I never even correlated the two: being over weight & having big feet. Whodathunk?!

  13. I'm in the big foot club too! Most of the time I wear a size 11. It's been that way no matter how much I gain or lose.

  14. Lol... I can't believe your wrote this post today! Today I put on a pair of pumps I haven't worn in a while and the first thing I noticed is how far my foot slide down in the toe area. I just brushed it off, thinking they were just stretched out but when I was walking out the door, my boyfriend made a comment about how 'small' my feet look in the shoes. I turned around, excited that he noticed too, and my foot slipped out of my shoe.

Too bad cause they were my favorite pair!! Time to go shopping!

  15. Yes, I have also noticed that my shoe size has changed a bit over the years (along with my weight....). I have actually recently "found" a pair of old shoes that had been a bit too small, but now they fit! But there are also some shoes that are now too big... Oh well...

I love the pic of you in the jeans and the shirt!

  16. Haha that's awesome that your shoes fit now! I hope my feet shrink a little with weight loss I feel like I have flippers haha. At least I know I'm not alone :-)

  17. Too funny - about the shoes, that is.

I'm also a size 10...went up to 10.5, 11 while pregnant...and now "down" again to a size 10. I haven't gone down at all with all the weight loss, but I keep watching to see if I do!! LOL

And great job on the new size of pants!

  18. This happened to me too! The ones I own seem a little big and now I am trying on 9 and 9 1/2 instead of 10 (and once I think I ended up with 11...eeek!) The best part though was trying on a pair of knee high leather boots today and they actually zipped all the way up! Yay!

  19. I think big feet make people look stable. =) And congrats on the jeans size! You look great!

I lost about a shoe size as well! When I was 265 lbs I wore on average a size 9 - 9.5 and now I wear 8 - 8.5. Usually 8s. It's weird because you don't realize how different your feet/hands get - I went from a size 9.5 ring to a size 5.75 from the time I got engaged to my wedding day.
